What makes Contemporary
Yoga different from other approaches?
Our approach is integrative
with a lot of experiential work; we have a strong focus on the inner
psychological process of the individual and the dynamic of the group. Our roots
are in the tradition and yet we always like to connect with real origins of
Yoga (i.e. before books and teachers) within each person so that the individual
can find Yoga within themselves, we believe this embodiment is the only place
that a teacher can begin .We give a lot
of time to supporting the emergence of each person in the group. We see the
course as part of a ‘soul journey’. We
use free movement, and circle work as a means of discovery as well as asanas
and pranayama and other yoga techniques.
What are the entry
requirements for the teacher training course ?
You need to have a good grounding
in Yoga practice ie two years practice and/or the Contemporary Yoga Foundation
Course . We are looking for a deep connection to Yoga and willingness to
continual personal development.
There are two written assignments which must be completed before the end of the
course. One for each
year.
There is ongoing evaluation
and teaching assessments including full class video assessment both with the
tutors and finally with an external assessor in a class outside the peer group.
